About Me

I like to go on hikes, and when doing so, I would always find interesting pieces of wood scattered about, which made me think of what I could turn them into! I would occasionally bring one home for me to play with (I would make something, then give it away, not thinking another thing about it). It's fascinating to me!

So I decided to start hauling them out on my shoulder.

If it's a short trail, I might make a couple trips to the van, then take 'em home, and lug them into my tiny shop. The longest hike I've done so far, with a piece on my shoulder, was 3.5 miles one way.

This also means that I don't have a large inventory, ever. Nothing I have is store bought, except for a piece of backing for a sconce, that was stored in the shop rafters from my Dad, many years ago.

The Process

When I bring in a piece of wood to my shop, it has been "talking" to me the whole time, what does it want to be turned into? I do what it "tells" me, it might take a little while, until it's convinced me that it's the right path.

I enjoy the challenge of where it takes me. Kind of like therapy. That means of course, no two pieces look exactly the same, ever, even from the same log.

In your home, they will be something to show off.

Working with Epiphany Farms

I also make large platters, charcuterie boards, bread boards, sushi platters, and coasters, all with a live edge, for a farm to fork restaurant group with 4 restaurants. I feel strongly about the philosophy of eating what is grown locally!

My Guarantee

All the items I make are found, cut, walked out of the woods, and finished with a live edge. I try to find pieces that have been dead, and seasoned naturally.  I don't touch live trees, ever.

After cutting, any cracks, knots, splits etc, get filled with food grade epoxy, and have food grade finish applied, except sconces, coasters, and the like.

If you purchase a product and it cracks or splits, send it back and I'll fix either fix it, or if too far gone to fix, will send a new one. If you want it replaced with another of that same species, and I don't have one in stock, I'll start looking.

Charcuterie boards, and coasters, are not cutting boards! Any knife marks will let in water, and will void the warranty.

No dishwashers, or immersing in water. It's easy to tell when this has happened, and will also void the warranty.

For cutting boards, cutting board wax/oil conditioner should be applied as needed (monthly, at least; if used a lot, weekly).

The items that I list, are what I have in stock at this time, I'll never have a large inventory, as I only stock what I can carry out the day I forage for pieces.
